can apparently be intimidation to some and the majority of the people aboard our ship have missed the opportunity to interface with the Omani’s by taking ship tours.Good grief. But it's their loss since Muscat is a beautiful place to visit. The scenery is stunning and the harbour alone is certainly worth disembarking to explore. It's truly sad that they have missed out on such a fantastic destination through ignorance and fear. Oman has developed a thriving tourist industry and has some top class hotels, but it's the landscape and geology which make it such a great place to visit:http://www.ritzcarlton.com/en/Properties/AlBustan/PhotoGalle...This brought us to the souk – the old city’s covered marketOman is renowned for Frankincense and this is one of the best things to buy in the souq, the resin is burned and its perfume infuses the room, it is an ancient tradition still thriving today and the spice section of the souq is fascinating. As for the driving, yes, its the combination of great roads, top end cars and an obsession with speeding. Driving in in Oman or its neighbors requires nerves of steel.... enjoy the rest of your trip.http://www.telegraph.co.uk/travel/destinations/middleeast/om...
