I have a small mutual fund held by ML that I want to liquidate. The fund was opened several years ago for my daughter, a minor at the time, with my wife as custodian. My daughter is no longer a minor but, as a full time student, doesn't file taxes either. When the fund is closed who will get to pay the long term gain?Should I remove my wife as custodian (if possible) before cashing in? The fund is about 9K.mv
