I wish I was in your predicament! Well, I got some bucks in mutual funds and I can tell you I would never again do this. Just for kicks, I have been creating a hypothetical portfolio of about 50 stocks over the past few weeks. As of this writing, I am up 1.41% while the S&P is up .40%. What I knew about individual stock investing would barely fill the bottom of a small thimble but I seem to have figured out the "secret". If I were you I would seriously consider putting your money into one of the internet on-line brokerages and draw 5% in the money market while you make up your mind what to invest in. Then when you feel comfortable enough, just start off small and invest $1,000 or so in one stock. See what happens. It is kind of like putting your feet into the water at a pool. At first it is somewhat difficult then you can then dive in all the way. Try it; it is fun and I'll bet you do just fine if you follow the sound advice of Motley Fool.

Never again will I entrust my money to a mutual fund company. I am sure I can do a whole lot better than they do which by my reckoning is only slightly better than throwing darts to select their stock picks.
