I was searching for some posts about getting rid of spiders and saw these two posts....This year I've suddenly developed a bit of a black widow (outside) and brown recluse (inside) spider problem...lived in this house over 20 years and never had much problem before. I don't have what the exterminator calls an "infestation" but certainly more of them than I like to have --I do live on a wooded lot in a rural area in Alabama so I know I have to expect some black widows and brown recluse spiders as part of the package. I never had a pest control service in the past, but I do now because of seeing/killing 4 or 5 black widows in the past month or so. My main concern is my cats...two inside and four outside....I've seen my inside cats hunt and kill spiders--never seen them with a brown recluse--and I'm worried about them and potential brown recluse bites. And the outside cats with the black widows. Does anyone have any suggestions about how to protect the cats from poisonous spiders? I hope the pest control will knock down the quantity, but even he says they can't ever get them all. I used to tease my cats telling them their main job was to protect me from the spiders...now I'm worried they will and how do I protect them???

<< I don't know if you like cats, but mine eat all the spiders that come into the house. I haven't seen a spider in years. Sometimes I see a spider's leg or other parts, though. Legs must not taste as good as the rest of the spider :)>>

>>My cats eat spiders, too, so they must taste really good. They won't eat ants or ladybugs. Not much action on flys either, only spiders.

If I go to get into the shower and see a spider, all I have to do is call, "Brandon, bug, bug," really loud and he comes running and eats it.>>
