That is usury .

A crime...


Usury laws vary from state to state. Credit card companies are not going to violate those laws, obviously.

They prey on the weakest and IMO will pay.

Do they prey on the weakest, or do they lend money to people that nobody else will lend to? Perhaps helping those people to survive? And since they are taking more of a risk, don't they deserve more of a reward?

Any agreement between a consumer and a business is voluntary, and it is the responsiblity of the individual parties to determine if the agreement is in their best interests or not. In short, it's none of my business.
