CCinOC: "That rate was posted, so to speak, so that libruls would THINK that the government actually confiscated 90% of high earning indivividuals' income."

First, whatever the actual tax rate someone pays doesn't change the fact that those here in the US do, in fact, consent to pay whatever taxes they actually pay. You say "confiscated" like it's taken against their will. Give me a break. They pay it to take advantage of our market, our rule of law and legal protections, our infrastructure, etc. Your rhetoric is so tiresome.

Second, you say that liberals only *think* that the government actually "confiscated 90% of high earning individuals' income" and that "nobody ever paid 90%". That may be true.

But if that's the case, then why throw a big screaming tantrum and red-faced hissy-fit when someone even *proposes* raising the top tax rate a percentage or two if it's all just a sham? After all, that's just the "posted" rate and if you're "brain dead" you deserve to pay the extra few percentage points on that marginal income?

Sheesh. That "logic" is so incredibly impotent.
