In an IRA account, can anyone elucidate for me whether it makes more sense to put money in CDs (fdic insured), or in Vanguard GNMA fund? We are about 2 years from retirement, so are trying to be conservative with the IRA investments. Our total portfolio is still about 45% equities, which may be a bit high. I have been purchasing CDs that are for no more than 18 months, but am wondering if it would be wiser to buy the Vgd. fund.
