Just so everyone knows, this wasn't me---it was our local CFI.This fellow was locally known as a Luke Skywalker, but he was a veryaffable guy and a CFII who trained lots of people around here.We get a lot of fog, and he used to brag that he could get in when noone else could by flying up a little bowl canyon just northeast of theairport and then popping up out of it about 1/8 mile from the runwaynumbers. Every time I looked to the right on final approach and gazeddown into that little valley I thought about him and thought, That guyis going to kack himself someday doing that. It's just what he did, ina borrowed '99 Cessna 182 packed with electronics. This is the first time I have lost a friend to his own piloting. I hopethis happens very seldom.Fly safe out there, folksKaulikehttp://www.pressdemocrat.com/local/news/02plcrash_b1.html
