Back in 1987 the hospital that I worked for went under and was taken over by another, and I went to work elsewhere.

At that time I had funded about 8,000 in savings into a Valic, a variable annuity fund. It has since grown to 25,000. Not too outstanding. It's too complicated and it's very expensive with fees.

Does anyone know if it is possible to transfer this money out to an IRA? Or am I forever stuck with this frustrating investment...it makes me crazy even contemplating trying to mess with it.

I will appreciate your help, thanks.
