I've coached youth soccer for about 5 years now(Currently U12 travel league). Here are some simple truths:

Adults are the biggest handicap to long term success of the soccer player.

Creativity is allowed not taught.

Let them fail gently and they will learn.

Help them see as much as they can, don't expect them to see what you see. Be willing to see what they see, it may surprise you.

Roll the ball on the field and watch. Stop them only one they do something that needs an adjustment, not because they did something that wasn't "by the book".

Fun matters more than adult defined success.

Yelling rarely makes anyone feel better or do better.
