Charlie,

I am not being emotional. I have no problem with discussing the merits of all kinds of investments. However, I am scared of losing money, and I am more scared of losing money on dangerous investments than I am of inflation and longevity.

You convince me of investment strategies where the risks of losing my principal are low enough for the extra possible gains to be worth the risk, without my having to spend my life doing nothing but worrying about finances, and I'll jump. I'll stick to a well diversified, passive program, and trying to save all I can.

You seem to be convinced that research lets you moderate risks enough to seek a higher risk/higher return strategy. I'm sure research helpt. But it doesn't guarantee anything.
