I definitely identify with you! I have a Micron P266 running ME that shares the monitor with my new Dell D600 laptop. (KVM switches are great<g>.)

I finally bit the bullet and went for an XP laptop, even if I could rebuild the P266 in about 2 hours. There comes a time when technology has advanced far enough that one needs to update at least one PC.

I still keep the Micron around for copying CDs the new fangled laptop won't read. (No copyright protection in the old burner.)

Besides, I have a project for next year (and beyond) - moving all our several hundred LPs to digital. I can't find many of them on any download service and refuse to pay for CDs of them - if I could find them on CD. When I can make the space I'll just spin LP's on a turntable attached to a pre-amp plugged into the Micron and capture 'em.

What convinced me was being able to load our entire CD library on to an MP3 player smaller than a pack of cigarettes and taking it along on vacation. Plug it into the stereo in the rented house and "Instant Home"!
