Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez is in an induced coma being kept alive by life support following complications during cancer surgery, it was claimed today.

Sources at the hospital in Cuba where he is being treated told a Spanish newspaper he was showing 'very weak' vital signs, adding that doctors could decide to switch off the machines 'at any moment'.

With rumours swirling that Chavez had taken a turn for the worse, Venezuela's Vice President Nicolas Maduro said the ailing president's condition remains 'delicate' three weeks after his cancer surgery.

I had no idea he was this far gone.

All this does is delay his trip to Hell. Good riddance.

When I read the title, I though I'd make a post making a joke "quick, take him to Cuba for the universal health care." Then I read the article, he actually is in Cuba being treated. Venezuela not good enough for him?

You mean Dan Rather was right after all?

Sometime last spring he said Chavez was very close to death. Maybe the message he received was right, but it was simply delivered on the wrong frequency.

I think he's been this far gone his entire life. Now his body has noticed.

Well, for him, Cuba is a step up. It's like moving from Iceland to Finland.

One of the most dreadful songs ever, IMHO. In fact, the only Smiths song I've ever heard that I really like is "How Soon Is Now?"

My son got engaged over the holidays. They're getting married in May. The honeymoon will be one week in Paris, one week in London and one week in Iceland. My son loved Iceland the first time he went.

I believe that the money he'll spend on all of this wold be better spent helping the poor. How dare he traipse all over the globe while people are starving? After all, he must be rich to afford all of that.

I got married at the Caesars Palace in Tahoe and spent part of my honeymoon in Tahoe and another part in San Francisco where we volunteered at a soup kitchen and fed the stinking hippies. OK i made the last part up.

A big deal has been made here that France is going socialist after the last election. Socialism = poor, from my understanding here. (g) Paris is a city in France.

Actually, what happened was he and his fiance got bumped from not one but three flights at Christmas-time. They were each reimbursed $1,800 by the airline, so they're using that money to buy the Paris/London/Iceland trip. Her parents are well off (I've heard), so they're footing the rest of the trip (hotels and meals).

Her parents should be ashamed of themselves!

I was just using the liberal "logic" on you that they use to dip their hands into someone else's pocket. "Rich" is relative. In the eyes of 95% of the world's people, your son is "rich," so why should he have while others don't?

Liberal hypocricy is amazing.

We got married in the church next to my family' s house and had the reception in the backyard. The honeymoon was three days along Skyline Drive. I liked it. We had no money and that' s what we could afford.

Not then, but I have been there. We took the kids at some point. For reasons I don't understand, I'm not all that thrilled about caves.
