C'mon Mitt, go to Ohio, Penn, and Michigan and tell them the joys of "free trade"

That'll help your already huge leads in the rust belt.

That's just the proglem, free trade is going to happen, there's no way around it. Mitt has the unenviable task of telling those states things they don't want to hear, or at least portions of those states. There are quite a few of us in Michigan who know the 50's are over and protectionism isn't going to save us as it isn't an option. We have to adapt to a brave new world... some people are scared to death of change. Too bad for them, though, because change happens whether you welcome it or not.

The one thing I give Clinton credit for is NAFTA. Our GOP governor (who was once the CEO of Gateway Computers) gets it. He is pushing hard for a new border crossing into Canada (part of the NAFTA superhighway, Detroit-Windsor is the biggest bottleneck on the entire lenght from Mexico to Canada!) It isn't the unions that are fighting him, it's the guy who owns all of the current border crossings (they're privately held) who wants to keep his monopoly. The unions are too busy trying to make it illegal to pass Right to Work laws in Michigan.
