I am looking at purchasing a home with my girlfriend. We want to be coowners, but are concerned about the tax implications.

Ideally, one of us would apply all of the interest and property taxes towards our income with the other taking the standard deduction.

If we split the interest and property tax deductions, a good portion of the benefits will be wasted away.

Does anyone have any experience with non-married co-ownership?
