I agree, the cancellation charge is outrageous. Was this cancel chg part of the original agreement? By the way, thanks to everyone who squawked about this; I just got an Advanta CC application, which I would probably accepted and thusly become another $25 cancellation victim.

I guess the only thing left to do is to only accept further credit cards based upon a $25 application fee that YOU CHARGE THEM, payable as a credit on the newly-issued card. Justification: you are granting them a 2% cut of your spending habits by permitting them to give you a card. Yeah sure.

The variation I use is when I get those calls for surveys. I tell 'em: I charge $75 an hour in my consulting business and generally don't work for free. So if you will FAX me a PO for my 1-hour minimum, I'll be glad to give my opinions.
