Dear Fools, I don't know where to post this, but I suppose Improve the Fool is a fine place. And yes, I do understand the irony of complaining about people complaining. I have been a registered Fool for some time now. I like the Fool because of its message boards, but I have noticed over time that the quality has gone down. It is such a problem for me that I don't even bother with the individual stock boards. The individual stock board have become nothing but a big old whine fest about the TMF the company, or worse about fellow Fools. Case in point:Of the top 10 posts currently in the best of, four are self-righteous rants on why the Fool is horrible. Three are attacks on Fools or Fools defending themselves. Only three are genuinely useful posts on that serve to educate, amuse, or enrich. But not only do I notice this trend on what makes the top ten of the best of, its throughout the stock boards as well. I think this community is deteriorating, and this post is my feeble attempt to do something about it. What I would like to see happen:1. Don't recommend posts that don't conform to the Foolish mission to educate, amuse, or enrich. It just perpetuates the madness. You look at the best of, and its a lot of hate, and its all negative energy. 2. Recognize posts that do reflect the mission. Spread the love. Hit that rec botton when you come across a post that is deserving, if only to make it stand out amungst all the hateful posts. 3. Respect one another, and respect the Fool. The Fool makes this resource available, and trust me, as a website administrator of a content-based Internet site, I know how hard it is to run a profitable content-based Internet site. 4. Let's just do whatever we can to foster a healthy, positive learning environment. That is what I would like to say. If we all start being nicer, imagine what the Best of could be, a place where the best posts are recognized. Wouldn't that be great?TheAngryFerretwww.angryferret.net
