I would like to sell some stock to help put a down payment on a home. I just happen to have some sorry%#$&*(#@$!!! bnbn stock that I wouldn't mind letting go of. This stock has been held for less than a year. I lost money on it! The loss is about 2300 dollars. I also would like to sell my Vanguard Primecap which I have had for 3 years. This investment has appreciated about 3500 dollars. So I have a long term gain of around 3500 dollars and a short term loss of around 2400 dollars. What will my tax consequences be for the year 2000 if I sell these stocks and put the money into a new home?
