Everywhere you look, right wingers are claiming that Mitt Romney has already won the election. President Obama may as well start packing his bags, because this race is over. The President has been leading in all the polls for months. The Democratic National Convention was an enormous success. His approval ratings have been on the rise. His economic plans are kicking in and people are seeing the impact in job creation, as demonstrated by the blowout jobs report last week. So why are the Romney fanboys celebrating? Because their guy managed to put a couple of semi-coherent sentences together for the first time in his life, and the right-wing media declares him the winner.

I'll admit, Mitt Romney pulled off a fine acting job last week. I knew he could lie, but I didn't know he could look so comfortable doing it. So congratulations to him for scoring some debating points. Now I have to ask this: what does winning a debate have to do with being President? The answer is pretty much nothing at all. When do Presidents go on primetime television, one on one against their rival, and answer stupid questions from a moderator? Has it EVER happened? On the other hand, a President needs to be able to make effective speeches all the time. He needs to be able to move people. He needs to know when to reach back for the big guns, like President Clinton. You need to be able to utilize social media, as well as traditional advertising. These are the things that the President has excelled at, and which have propelled him to his lead throughout this campaign. So ask yourself this: when it comes to being President, would you rather have a guy who can win a debate, or someone who can give a great convention speech to tens of millions of people and create effective campaign ads that can influence and persuade people.

I know my choice: President Obama. And on Election Day, the American people will make that same choice. I can't wait to see the conservatards then.

Sorry, Ells - Obama supporters are the ones chanting "Nate Silver says your [sic] toast! Woo hoo! 5-3-8 baby!!!" and doing other dumb things like posting the daily Intrade on Obama's chances.

I do not doubt that poster is deluded. However, pointing to a very low amount of job creation and a marginal upgrade in a previous month as a way to justify a huge drop in unemployment is merely idiotic.

Again, I dop not want to rule out deluded. The entire idea of gloating while ignoring folks like Peter et al, now there would be deluded, as well as some other odd traits.

But mostly, again, all we got was really dumb.

"Everywhere you look, right wingers are claiming that Mitt Romney has already won the election"

No we are not, but nice tactic trying to claim Charma will bite the overconfident.

Democrats/Obama have been leading in the polls the entire time, your side has been the over confident, we have been playing catch up from behind, so its the opposite of what you claim, the lefts over confidence has caught up, Romney has caught up, this is a toss up, very close.

Ben Smith: A defense of Obama January 07, 2010
I get a lot of unsolicited e-mail and should probably publish more of it; this defense of Obama, sent in by someone named Ellie Light, seemed to crystallize a point his supporters have been trying to make for a while:

--------

http://www.cleveland.com/open/index.ssf/2010/01/letter_write...
Obama has suspicious number of letter-writing fans named 'Ellie Light'
In recent weeks, Light has published virtually identical “Letters to the Editor” in support of President Barack Obama in more than a dozen newspapers.Every letter claimed a different residence for Light that happened to be in the newspaper’s circulation area.

“It’s time for Americans to realize that governing is hard work, and that a president can’t just wave a magic wand and fix everything,” said a letter from alleged Philadelphian Ellie Light, that was published in the Jan. 19 edition of The Philadelphia Daily News.

----------

Obama-Loving Spammer 'Ellie Light' Dupes 42 Newspapers

In January, an anonymous person supposedly named "Ellie Light" launched a massive PR campaign on behalf of President Barack Obama.
The goal appears to have been to infiltrate as many newspapers as possible to spread pro-Obama propaganda -- as if the press needed the help.

Light's plan was simple enough: write a compelling letter to the editor, pretend to be a concerned reader in the region, and persuade the paper to print her liberal blather.

For three weeks, editors of mainstream newspapers big and small allowed Light to spread Democrat talking points under the guise of small-town grassroots without anyone bothering to double check her story.

The content of her letter was also quite simple: Blame George Bush.

Ellie Light revealed
The Plain Dealer reports, and I've also confirmed parts of this, that the mysterious pro-Obama letter-writer is, in fact, a nurse named Barbara Brooks from Kern County, Calif. The details from a radio interview this morning — aside from the pseudonym — check out.

The original post wreaks of disdain, fear, contempt all rolled into one... it is no wonder the poster supports Obama. That about sums up his presidency and shows exactly what millions of Americans witnessed 7 days ago at the debate.

Keep looking at your toes 'hoping' America doesn't notice the timidness radiating from your body language. That people will somehow fall for the promises again that you are really doing something for them. Keep telling yourself that the only way someone could make you look so foolish on national TV was to lie... not that you were unprepared and unable to answer tough questions and challenges about your failure of a job so far.

A vote for Obama this fall is like throwing yourself all-in in hopes that what you've witnessed isn't really how it is, that doubling down will lead to a solution... when really everyone else sees you're on tilt.

I voted for Obama once... not again.

CairnDad: I am predicting that neither candidate will get more than 299 electoral votes.

Americans are going to remember why they voted for President Obama in 2008, and they want him to finish the job. They are going to remember who gave the better convention speech, and who can influence and inspire with compelling television and social media ads. Finally, they are going to realize that President Obama's economic plan is putting people back to work, and they are going to re-elect him in a landslide.

President Obama will easily clear 300 electoral votes. Mitt Romney will be praying in his special underwear to his bogus sky god that he will break 200 electoral votes. Here is more evidence than any conservatards can understand: http://fivethirtyeight.blogs.nytimes.com/

U6 is the real unemployment, which is currenly close to 15%

ROFL, EllieLight! Is this some sort of pablum to soothe the savage base? Before, you'd be on the conservative fora telling us how you were once a conservative, but now seeing the Obama light. Is it that bad in Obamaland that an acolyte must come before the true believers?

So why are the Romney fanboys celebrating? Because their guy managed to put a couple of semi-coherent sentences together for the first time in his life, and the right-wing media declares him the winner.

Oh, no, no, no, Ellie! Celebration is a strong word for now. Celebration will be held for the evening of the election. But conservatives were quite pleased to see his support for conservative causes. Romney's turning towards the Declaration of Independence in the background and saying we have these principles to follow of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. A brilliant move and principles Dear Leader Obama has a hard time understanding or frankly ignoring.

But let us put aside personal views and look at the numbers/results of who actually won the debate. CNN and CBS both ran numbers post debate on who won. Psst! If you haven't seen them. Romney won . . . huge! Obama was crushed . . . huge! You only have one time to make a first impression and Romney took full advantage with upwards of 70 million viewing the debate.

But these numbers mean nothing unless there is a change in trend and there was! Oh, was there. Have you looked at the recent polling lately or just disregarding to not further shake a shaky base?

Well, I'm game. Let's shake the crowd here.

Rasmussen now has polling showing Romney in the lead in the swing states by two points, a four point shift. There's even one poll out there with Romney leading Ohio by 1 with a D+9:

http://hotair.com/archives/2012/10/09/romney-takes-lead-in-r...

Public Policy Polling, a left leaning organization who conducted the poll for Daily Kos and SEIU, has Romney leading among likely voters by two points:

http://thehill.com/blogs/ballot-box/presidential-races/26091...

On the key voting issues of the economy and national security, Romney is now leading:

http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2012/oct/8/obama-loses-l...

The price of gasoline is now about double what it was when Obama came into office with some California stations charging around $6/gallon. Yeah, that's gonna garner some positive messaging for the Anointed One.

Oh, and the Big Bird fixation in ads? Not sitting too well with your cheerleaders in the media like Politico, MSNBC, NBC, and ABC:

http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Journalism/2012/10/09/media-Bac...

Over at the Daily Beast, another Obama supporter, Andy Sullivan pegged the irrationality meter in his most recent article:

http://andrewsullivan.thedailybeast.com/2012/10/did-obama-ju...

Maybe he can begin to give us a positive vision of what he wants to do (amazing that it's October and some of us are still trying to help him, but he cannot). Maybe if Romney can turn this whole campaign around in 90 minutes, Obama can now do the same. But I doubt it. A sitting president does not recover from being obliterated on substance, style and likability in the first debate and get much of a chance to come back. He has, at a critical moment, deeply depressed his base and his supporters and independents are flocking to Romney in droves.

I've never seen a candidate self-destruct for no external reason this late in a campaign before.

Obama is in tough shape and expect it to get only worse. What record is there to run on? ObamaCare or more appropriately ObamaTax? It may play well here, dear, but it is deeply unpopular with conservatives and independents. Psst! And it ain't the messaging. Obama messaged the sh!t out of that program and it's still unpopular.

So, where has Obama been spending his time to garner votes? Letterman. Leno. The View. Ellen. Nickelodeon. Yeah. These are serious venues. Did you see that about 66% of the military intends to vote for Mitt Romney? No wonder your socialist/Obama team is spending so much time trying to suppress their votes. A trusted Dem technique. Just to remind you, these folks are carrying out national security at the pointy end of the spear . . . and intending to vote against their current Commander-in-Chief who self-proclaimed, "I have your back!" They know bullsh!t when they hear it.

I'll admit, Mitt Romney pulled off a fine acting job last week. I knew he could lie, but I didn't know he could look so comfortable doing it. So congratulations to him for scoring some debating points.

Oh! You wish to talk in general, non-specific terms regarding lying? Kind of tough to defend in that form. Let's get to specific lying. And we'll stay current. What happened in Libya? Why are there one ambassador and three other Americans dead. It wasn't about the video at all contrary to how Obama tried to sell it. What was his response? To drag an innocent man out of bed on a midnight raid with men wearing brown shirts for "voluntary" questioning. Kinda puts a troubling light on Obama's support for the First Amendment doesn't it? If not, it should.

I know my choice: President Obama. And on Election Day, the American people will make that same choice. I can't wait to see the conservatards then.

I, too, look forward to election day. I suspect it will then become your sad demise because the United States can no longer afford Hopenchange. Sad for you that is. I'll be quite happy as will the majority of the people. You and Julia go have a good time in the meanwhile.

The American people know the recovery is underway, and we are not interested in going back to the draconian policies of the radical right wing extremists in the Republican Party that caused these problems.

There is no turning back now.

Forward.

Poor Ellie. Berate Fox News, yet the entire MSM found the numbers not credible. And now the other shoe drops:

http://blogs.wsj.com/economics/2012/10/11/which-state-distor...

. . . a Labor economist said one “large” state didn’t report additional quarterly figures as expected, accounting for a substantial part of the decrease. The official wouldn’t disclose which state, but said it would be released with next week’s report as usual.

“One omission by one state–you wouldn’t think it would be a big deal, but in this case it drove the number down by 10%,” said analyst Stephen Stanley with Pierpont Securities.

Economists are speculating the state could be California, the most populous state in the nation.

“It was likely a state with a large population and we suspect that it was California based on the occasional massive swings that have occurred in its claims data in the past,” said Daniel Silver, an economist with JPMorgan, in a note.

“In short, this reading is worthless in terms of informing on the general economy,” Mr. Stanley wrote in a research note.

When it was reported, Ellie, you and your ilk should have had a YGBSM moment, but nooooo! Disregard critical thinking and let's berate and intimidate anyone questioning the numbers as you did with CCinOC.

My continuing impression of you is nothing but a feckless and gutless soul, but quite happy to see you posting on the PA board. The PA tradition continues.
