I'm considering adding Alcoa to my Drip Portfolio. I don't have any petroleum or mining stocks.

Alcoa is no fee and has nice low minimums.

Also, within Aluminum, they're diversified:
Alcoa Energy
Aluminum Ingot
Building & Construction
Commercial Transportation
Consumer Electronics
Industrial Products & Services
Oil & Gas

They also have operations around the world and so are globally diversified.

What I can't figure out is if they're a reasonably responsible company. I don't really know much about mining, but I'm wondering things like whether they blast the tops off mountains, run really dirty/polluting smelters, if miners are dropping dead left and right....

I have no idea where to start educating myself on the standards for good vs bad mining companies.
