I figured this would be an interesting question to ask on the "revenge" board.

Has anyone had any horror stories with contractors the likes of which are periodically told in news stories or programs like 20/20?

I'm wondering about cases where you've hired a contractor and been ripped off in some way, either by the individual not following through on a contract or even just disappearing with your money.

If so, what did you do to address this problem? Where'd you turn for help? What agencies did you contact?

And what was the outcome??
