Contrary to the rhetoric and misrepresentations by the speakers at the RNC, their party is neither centrist nor inclusionary. Rather it is exclusinary and elitist and its its dogma and politics is dominated by the radical right, which is homophobic and intolerant. For example:

"I really believe that the pagans, and the abortionists, and the feminists, and the gays and lesbians who are actively trying to make an alternative lifestyle ... I point the finger in their face and say 'you helped this happen.'" Jerry Falwell, speaking about the 9/11 terrorist attacks, from The 700 Club

"you say you're supposed to be nice to the Episcopalians and the Presbyterians and the Methodists and this, that, and the other thing. Nonsense. I don't have to be nice to the spirit of the Antichrist."
Pat Robertson, from The 700 Club

"The feminist agenda is not about equal rights for women. It is about a socialist, anti-family political movement that encourages women to leave their husbands, kill their children, practice witchcraft, destroy capitalism and become lesbians." Pat Robertson, The Washington Post

"Our goal is a Christian nation. We have a biblical duty, we are called by God to conquer this country. We don't want equal time. We don't want pluralism." Randall Terry, Indiana News Sentinel

"Women are less equipped physically to 'stay the course' in the brawling areas of business, commerce, industry, and the professions."
Pat Buchanan, San Francisco Chronicle

With a few exceptions, while moderates or so-called moderates spoke at the RNC, the RNC's politics and party platform was, and is, ruled by the likes of these demagogues. The link below will take you to a article in today's Los Angeles Times on this fact:

http://www.latimes.com/news/politics/la-na-christians4sep04,1,1752532.story?coll=la-home-politics

(Note the reference by one Republican faithful to the Republican moderates, of which there are few, as whiners.)

The Republican Party has adopted this radical right manifesto with the Stalinist-like fervor, dogma and intolerance.
