I hope this is the right board, but I have a couple questions regarding my credit report. I just got my free copy of it. First off, I am disputing a collections charge that is on my report. It is for a cell phone for $27. I never opened this account. I called the collections company and they have my name, an old address, and a different social security number associated with the account. I disputed it and told them I want it off my report unless they can prove I opened the account. I moved from the address 5 years before it was opened.

Do they have to remove it even though they have my name and an address of mine? I'm worried that I can't prove that I didn't open this account.

Second question, I've held two mortgages in my life. The one for my first house is listed on there with the amounts and information. It is closed since it's paid off. The mortgage for my second (current) house is not listed at all. I actually only held the mortgage for about a month before paying it off. Should I call the company and request for them to put it on my report? Would that help my credit score any? Does it hurt to have it not listed since it looks like I've only ever had one mortgage?

Further information, I have no late payments, collections (other than the disputed one), or negative marks at all. I carry balances on my two credit cards, but pay off each month. I have no car loans or any other credit other than credit cards. I'm just worried that my habit of paying everything off and no loans is going to hurt my credit. Thanks for any insight.
