I am at a loss to figure out why the current stock price is so close to the 52 week low. All year to date metrics are showing solid improvement and, while the price of fuel is still very high, it has stabilized a bit. The company is profitable, even with these high fuel prices.
As to the possible takeover of Midwest Airline: most of the analysts whom I have read feel that a takeover would be a good catalyst for AirTran. So why have investors not bid up AirTran stock?
