I'm compelled to share a story as to why WFMI is an outstanding company.

My mother is 81 years old, and lives in NYC. She doesn't get around as much as she used to, but her favorite walk is to head 1/2 mile downtown to Whole Foods Market in Columbus Circle, buy some fresh fish and vegetables, and walk home.

About two weeks ago, she noticed that they were using new boxes for prepared food. She also noticed that the person packing her bag put her little box on the bottom of the shopping bag, and the rest of the stuff on top of it. By the time mom got home, her little box of prepared food was crushed and splattered all over the bag.

With here receipt in hand, she called the store and spoke to a manager. She told him the whole story. He apologized profusely, and told her that they would send her a $10.00 gift card.

That evening, at 9:30 pm, my mom received a beautiful basket of flowers. Stunned, she excitedly read the card. No, it wasn't a gift from a secret admirer--it was a gift from Whole Foods Market, with a $10 gift certificate attached.

Ten days later, she's still enjoying the beautiful flowers. She'll remain a not-so-secret admirer of Whole Foods Market for the rest of her life.
