Debt reduction is good, but I just do not understand the increase in savings when the rate of return on the savings is wiped out by the high interest credit card debt. An emergency can be handled by a cc provided they are not over limit.

IMHO, paying down high interest debt is just another form of savings but at a better rate.

But keep paying down that debt in any case.
