I have a question regarding whether or not I can open an IRA for my wife that is deductable. My wife lost her job last December, however she did not have her termination interview until Jan 15, 1998. At that time she got her accrued vacation pay which had 401k money taken out. She also has a retirement plan which will be paid as a lump sum April 1, 1998. I have a 401k and a pension plan where I work and I exceed the income limit for having a deductable IRA. I would like to know if my wife can open a deductable IRA for 1998.
