Turbo Tax asked how long a dependent child has lived with the parent in question, asking how many months he lived with him, and says to include partial months. It doesn't even say how much he had to live with him in the partial month to count it!

So the child could live with the parent very few days in each of the 12 months and you could count that he lived with him for the full year.

But using that measuring method, the child could be claimed to have lived with BOTH parents for the full year.

How does that work? Is it that if both can claim it that way, then they have to decide who gets to claim him on the tax return? And what if they both refuse to come to an agreement and it is not in the divorce decree?
