Depends on how bad it is and exactly what's on it.

In the last 6 months mine went from 570-595 (depending on which credit agency) to 665-698 - much better but nowhere near excellent.

BUT, that's in large part to Really Bad Things from 7-8 years ago falling off, combined with good payments for the last 18 months, plus paying off my one revolving credit line.

24 consecutive months of on time payments and reducing the percentage of revolving accounts helps quite a bit, but some things you just got to wait out.
