Did say drop of .1% in December for second declining month in a row. I assume they mean CPI, but no breakdown.

The CPI-U (the number we TIPS & I Bond investors are concerned with) was down 0.4% in December. Yikes.

We're halfway through the next 6-month period of the inflation adjustment for I Bonds. So far, the inflation adjustment is an annualized rate of -2.0%. Ouch.

Those poor folks who bought the latest bonds in Oct, touting the huge rate of 6.7%, are going to be mighty disappointed if this keeps up. They will earn the not-so-huge rate of 0% for the next 6 months!
