Did you have a line conditioner? I have read many articles about how dirty power (and our power is shockingly dirty) can seriously shorten the life of equipment. Especially newer equipment. Some areas are worse than others. As I recall you're in a pretty rural area. Perhaps you get more surges and noise and blackouts than I do.

My old Yamaha 670 is still chugging along (though, to be fair, it doesn't get much use since replaced by the 1900...I'm planning to use it for zone 2 amplification). My ancient gold-tone Pioneer SX6 (30 years?) still works (and we still use it sometimes in the "spare room"). My old Sony CD player still works (20 years?). Etc.

In the interest of full disclosure, only the 1900 has experienced the line conditioner (and the new TV and the new BluRay).
