Did you try using wire nuts to connect:
wire nut 1: 2 whites + a white pigtail
wire nut 2: 2 black
wire nut 3: 2 red + a red pigtail
wore nut 4: 4 bare ground wires (2 from cables, 1 to ground box, 1 to ground light)


Just for completeness, the white pigtail would connect to the white from the fixture, the red pigtail would connect to the black from the fixture, and the bare copper ground would connect to the green from the fixture (or directly to some metal part of it).

Have I got that right?
