Has anyone read the book "DIE BROKE"? It was apparently a national bestseller. I got it for Christmas.

The official title is "QUIT TODAY - PAY CASH - DON'T RETIRE - DIE BROKE"

It presents a very interesting scheme to live your financial life.

Basic concepts of the book:

QUIT TODAY
Retain your integrity by doing the best that you can and being part of the team, but focus on getting the best financial deal you can get. Be a "free-agent" looking for the best deal you can get.

PAY CASH
Save and wait until you can pay cash before buying something (except for a house or a car)
Whatever you buy must last long enough to justify the cost of borrowing or the time spent saving.

DON'T RETIRE
Look at your life as a journey up and down the hills rather than a single climb up the cliff that ends with a leap off the edge at some arbitrary age.

DIE BROKE
Focus on getting the maximum use out of your assets and income instead of creating an estate for your heirs.

A major part of his program, which seems to be the opposite of the Fool Philosophy, is the use of annuities.

Don't know if I am ready for what he proposes but would be very interested in what someone who has tried his system would have to say about it.
