We met some friends tonight (Thursday) at a place that was new to us. DW & I split three plates and the four of us split a fourth plate. You can get a Bavarian Fish Sampler and Wild Game Terrine in a Potato and Applewood Bacon Crust anywhere. Try finding this in your neck of the woods:

1) hamachi, grenadine, burnt orange, sansho, sherry vinegar
2) octopus, pumpkin, miso, radish, pine nuts, sesame, chili
3) fried kale, candied bacon, fish sauce, mint
4) eggplant, chinese sausage, black vinegar, tahini yogurt

It was delicious. We'll be back.

I don't know what it was fried in, but synchronously there was an article in the paper today about making kale chips and it said to use olive oil. And it was delicious.

If you want to try it yourself, maybe the folks at the restaurant would tell you if you call them:

I once bought some of those kale chips at Whole Foods. They were inedible and I return them for a refund.

I once made kale quiche and it was delicious.

(Thanks for the restaurant name; perhaps I'll call them.)

I'm with CC. The kale sounds intriguing. I like fish sauce.

You're not fooling anyone with that "fish sauce" story. We know you want the kale dish because of the bacon.
