My buddy keeps telling me that I did not make enough money so I do not have to file taxes. Is this true?
I had an internship this summer and they told me that I was tax exempt because I am a full time college student. So they did not take anything out of my check. I made under $2300 dollars this summer and my parents claim me. I also have a small portfolio and received a 1099 from e-trade. The amount was under $10 because of cash sitting around in a money market. I also received a statement from the bank stating that I earned $72 in interest income for the year.
Any help would be appreciated.
