Do these beers very in consitency when you buy them at different locations? Many beers are produced under contract by local breweries to serve different regions. This could be one explanation.

I think that may be why I normally stick with microbrews. Less transit time, since they are normally produced in your area.

You need to watch where you get your tap beers. Some bars don't clean their lines as diligently as they should. Plus if you order a beer that isn't popular at that bar it's likely to have been tapped quite a while past its prime.
