Do you have a slop factor in this process?

Sort of. Using the 1 month forecast chart in Quicken which subtracts out our reoccuring bills, we usually end up making only one or two transfers per month. For example, we're near our minimum balance ($2k) until we both get paychecks next week. I'll then look ahead one month and find our minumum balance, subtract $2k and transfer that amount.

FWIW, we use our credit card for any transactions we can so that offers a nice buffer as well.

Also, our checking minimum is $1k so I'll let the balance get pretty close to that if there is an unexpected bill.
