Does Daddy overprotectiveness go out the window this abruptly, or is this just the woodworker in my DH??

Blind spots.

I vividly remember my parents refusing to allow me to watch anything on television that was not on PBS as a child. No cartoons, nothing. They were too "violent." (Even Scooby Doo).

Yet, I saw all the Star Wars movies in the theaters (and I was about five and a half for the original Star Wars), and they thought it was perfectly acceptable for me to watch the original Alien movie, not in the theaters but I couldn't have been more than 10 at the time that I first saw it.

Cartoons? Violent and unhealthy for young minds.

Sci-Fi? Fosters a natural curiosity and enhances the imagination.
