Does the act of rebalancing a 401k provide any increase or decrease to the returns?

Have a look at the post I made a couple weeks ago on that very subject, plus the reply from someone saying that balancing didn't matter. (Also, note that the "didn't matter" study was stocks vs bonds, not US large cap stocks / US small cap stocks / foreign stocks / emerging market stocks / REITs / etc., like your portfolio is.)

The best return is to put all your money into whatever goes up the most during the window you're looking at. If you don't know what that will be, then mitigate your risk of missing the best several areas by allocating as you have already done.
