Doesn't look like you got beaten up too bad. Food for thought, though. At a 4% withdrawal at retirement you need 25x your annual expenses. Each $1,000 per month you spend requires an additional 300K in assets to fund.

At the same time, each dollar you cut from your lifestyle is another dollar that can be invested. I'm all for having a good fun life- we own a house in San Francisco and take one or two foreign vacations each year, but I'm also conscious of what's important to me. At this point in my life, freedom is the most important thing, and money == freedom. So I try to minimize anywhere I can both to increase the amount I can invest, and to reduce the required size of the nest egg to get there.
