Doesn't sell in May occur towards the end of May i.e. before Memorial Day holiday, when all the Money Managers clean the portfolios and head for their digs in the Hamptons? ... Hohum

... according to the Stock Traders Almanac 2007, since 1950, the Dow 30 has gained a total 11,691 points for the Nov 1 - April 30 interval for all 56 yrs but the cumulative change for May 1 - Oct 31 for those 56yrs was a 539 point LOSS.

On a yearly basis, for May 1 - Oct 31:
33 up yrs (6.0% avg), 23 down yrs (-8.4%) and an overall average change of 0.3%.

For Nov 1 - Apr 30:
44 up yrs (11.3% avg), 12 down yrs (-4.9% avg) and an average change of 7.9%.
