Dog is cat sized, so putting the food up wouldn't help. Fortunately, the cat who is on the diet doesn't seem to be interested in the dog food. I don't mind the other cats eating it except that means less for the dog when she does get around to eating it.

So far, my system is working without any problems. The dog won't eat when I feed the cats, but I think I am getting better at guessing when she will eat. She doesn't seem to be motivated by hunger. Maybe its a leftover from her puppyhood when she wasn't feed properly. She is very sensitive to what is going on around her and if she doesn't feel safe, she doesn't eat.
