Gosh, dogs are so dumb. And it's a border collie, isn't it?? That's the smartest the canine world has to offer!

Then this is probably not the best time to say it reminded me of the average man in a bar trying to get an attractive woman to leave with him when she has clearly decided against it but is trying not to be downright insulting.

Those dogs are much too intelligent to be misjudging statuary for real life. I suspect his 'people' put him up to the trick and instructed him to do exactly what he's doing for the video.

Well AOLFoolman....your comment on the most intellient dog made me drag out my book 'The Intelligence of Dogs' by Stanley Coren, a renowed psychologists and award winning dog trainer.

I forget how many decades this book was in researching the data. But, it entailed interviewing 208 dog obedience judges, 63 small animal vets, 14 specialists in guard and protection, countless competitors, plain family dog owners etc. He ran the gamut in his research. In his summary of research he ranked 133 breeds.

He described different types of intelligence and associates this according to each breed. He never discredited any breed.....

The 10 top all around intelligent dogs according to his study are:

1. Border Collie
2. Poodle
3. German Shepherd
4. Golden Retriever
5. Doberman Pinscher
6. Shetland Sheepdog
7. Labrador Retriever
8. Papillon
9. Rottweiler
10. Australian cattle dog.

Now if that intelligent dog you own isn't on the list and you are positive it is # 1.....don't blame me. Contact Stanley Coren.

I highly recommend this book to every dog owner. GREAT insight to understanding your 'best friend'.

Brooks

PS: I have 2 GerShep and I am convinced one is #1 and the other must be 133rd or was dropped on his head at birth (joke...he is just a pup and would bite me if he knew I said this)
