Don't be a jerk. It is obviously listed on the check stub. The point is that few people really pay attention to it. Few people really stop to think about how much taxes are really costing them. It is clear that people would think about it more if they had to stop and write a check each month.

I don't think the comment was condescending as you say in a later post. There is a difference between hidden and few people paying attention.
