Don't worry regencyreader, I was in your shoes about a year ago. Here are some observations, keep looking for a realtor I found mine by attending open houses in my price range. Look for state and local housing agencies. While I was surfing the net I stumbled across a local housing agency and qualified for a below interest rate mortgage. With regards to the maintenance issue, I lived in an apartment for 15 years. If I can perform home repairs anyone can. Here's a tip, go to Home Depot and purchase the book " Home Improvement 1-2-3". It has saved me time and money already. Good luck. And let us Fools know how it works out for you.
