I just want to make sure that I can have more than one IRA account as long as the combined annual contribution of these accounts does not exceed $2000 (for this tax year, $3000 starting 2001). Is that correct? The reason I want to do this is that many mutual funds require $1000 or $2000 for minimum, but for subsequent investments, you pay as little as $25 monthly. So to make full use of IRA limit in subsequent years, I want to add more IRA accounts.
