I don't know why you're taking the incitement of a Jordanian newspaper literally. They are deliberately confusing prayer on the temple mount with prayer in the Al Aqsa mosque. No one would presume that Jews should pray inside the mosque. They should be allowed to pray on the mount, outside the mosque. But the newspaper is making it sound like they wish to storm the mosque itself.

Another point - Israel does everything it can to restrain the right wing extremists. To blame Israel for their behavior is disingenuous.

Also note that the Jordanian newspaper refers to the "Tel Aviv authorities". They don't recognize the legitimacy of ANY Israeli presence in Jerusalem. They object to development of the Wailing Wall area, outside the temple mount proper, because Muhammad tied down his horse there. Gimme a break.

I was hoping you would respond.

First, I take the point that the Jordanian paper is conflating issues.

second, Does Israel REALLY do everything it can to restrain extremists? I am skeptical on that point.

Knowing the apocalyptic bent of some of those on the far right, especially the Third Temple folks, it would not surprise me at all if some wanted to storm right into the center of the Mosque and defile it, or worse.

As for the 'Tel Aviv authorities' reference, I caught that too. But in the absence of a signed peace agreement with the Palestinians, no Arab entity is going to recognize Jerusalem as Israels capitol.

As for Mohammeds horse, come on, are we going to argue about who's religious myths have more weight? don't get me wrong, I believe that Jerusalem should be/is the capitol of Israel, but don't insult Muslims because of their religious beliefs ... after all, there are Jews who believe that bio-engineering a red heiffer, and sacrificing it on the Temple Mount is enough to bring Mosiach.

I couldn't find reference to this in either Jpost or Haaretz ... that surprises me if activists are going up on to the mount, and Palestinians are reacting and being arrested ... where is the media
