This is a new restaurant that opened in Dallas this weekend. It's in a new boutique hotel called Hotel ZaZa. The concept chef in charge of all banquet, catering and restaurant operations is Stephan Pyles, of Routh Street, Baby Routh, Star Canyon and public TV fame. It's his first restaurant venture in over 5 years. We were fortunate to be there on opening night. The food was fantastic! And, because it was opening night, we were treated to 50% off all food. The menu has touches of Moroccan and Asian tastes. I had a clam and mussels appetizer in a spicy peanut sauce soup. I soaked up every bit of the broth. There were over a dozen shellfish in it. For the entree I had lamb seasoned with cinnamon and preserved lemon served over roasted vegetables and couscous. The lamb was perfectly spiced and the most tender lamb I've ever had. My SO had ginger beef, which were two small tender steaks served over wasabi mashed potatoes. My dad had grilled sea bass with cinnamon seased vegetables in puff pastry. Both thought there dinners were excellent as well.I highly recommend the restuarant and I'm working on a couple of reservations over the next few months. The restaurant is not large, so if you're interested and coming to Dallas, call as far in advance as possible.
