Due to some wonderful luck, I was the winner of the Fool's July Get Out of Debt Contest and just last week got my check for $4,500.00. After contacting my accountant to see how much of that I should set aside for April 15th and doing so, I did the following:

Congratulations on winning the contest! I commend you for using your windfall so responsibly because IMHO that's the test of a person's will to get out of debt. If you get a windfall and waste it when there's still work to be done on debt, then it seems you'd be more likely to run up additional, frivolous debts. You pass with flying colors. :)
