I don't know where to post this, but Duke is set to buy Progress Energy (PGN), which is our local electric company. We own a small amount of PGN and DRIP it. What happens to the stock will depend on how Duke buys PGN, but I suppose the DRIP will just become defunct?

When you DRIP PGN, the shares are actually held by a third party - Computershare
